Accommodation

TORINO

Torino is a flat city by the north-western part of river Po, where are located both the city-centre and the main venues where the conference will take place. The heart of the city is a relatively small area and it is very easy to walk from one side of the centre to the other. Public transport (bus, tram and metro) and a service of bike sharing will also be accessible to delegates and are a very convenient way to move around the city (for more details see last section of this page and our Conference pages with more practical info).

Torino offers its visitors a wide range of accommodation options for all tastes and budgets.

The main conference venues will be in the University Campus Luigi Einaudi (CLE), located in Lungo Dora Siena, 100, Teatro Regio di Torino, (for the opening plenary session and reception drink on the 28th of August) and Castello del Valentino (for the dinner party on the 30th of August). The centre of the city is Piazza Castello, where the Teatro Regio is located.

Please consider that you will only have 20 minutes for completing the on-line registration form. For this reason, we suggest you to compare and select your preferred options for accommodation with respect to the desired characteristics, prices and the location, before beginning the registration procedure. Here below we offer you the relevant information to help you make your choices.

UNIVERSITY RESIDENCES: EDISU

In order to help meeting the challenges that the current economic crisis imposes on Universities and delegates’ budgets, Turin’s edition of the ESA Conference 2013 will help delegates to meet the conference expenses by affording over 700 places in University accommodation (EDISU) at very competitive rates (around 20 Euro/night/person) either a few steps away or by the conference venues. The rooms do not include “hotel-like” services (i.e. night concierge, breakfast, daily cleaning, ensuite bathroom, TV or phone) but are located in newly built or restored buildings onsite (or very close by).

These places in single, double, and triple rooms are especially meant to meet the needs of students and young researchers at early stages of their careers, as well as those  delegates coming from “Band 2 countries” and those coming from the countries especially hit by the economic crisis.

They will be allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis until the 10th of July. When choosing this option, delegates will be asked to indicate the name(s) of selected colleague(s), in case of room sharing (if no specification is given, and a place in a shared room is chosen, allocation will be on a same-sex basis).

We hope that this ‘in kind contribution’ towards meeting the conference costs will especially encourage a high attendance by young scholars.

For more information on University Residences and to detect their exact location please visit the EDISU webpage: http://www.edisu.piemonte.it/cms/residenze-universitarie.html

Places have been pre-booked for you at the residences: Olimpia (on Campus, where the main location of the conference will be), Cavour, San Liborio, Palazzo degli Stemmi.
